And so it begins...

We have begun packing. My mom reminded me that they are coming in JUST TWO SHORT WEEKS to help us move and, by cracky, as Granny used to say, I had better get moving (no pun intended. haha). So, after spending half of Saturday trying to find the tape gun, we are now officially packing. So far, I've packed the Trautman Family Library, Benjamin's outgrown/out-of-season clothes, and our winter gear ... who knew I would ever live in a place where I would have to pack up a huge bin of winter gear? coats, snow boots, even an electric blanket for the car (truth be told, i had that electric blanket in TN :)

The thing about packing to move is not so much that I dislike the process itself. After all, I really enjoy organizing, sorting, and getting rid of stuff we don't need. But when my surroundings are in disorder, as is unavoidable during moving, my insides seem to be in disarray as well. Like yesterday when I went to the grocery store for just a few things, one of the primary ones being apple cider vinegar, then while checking out, realized I had completely forgotten it. So, I had to go out to the car, put the first set of stuff in, then go back into the store for the vinegar. This wouldn't have been so bad except that I was frustrated and in a hurry, so I cut across the front of the store with my cart (ya know how those infant carriers sitting in the cart obstruct your line of sight? well, they do.) and ran smack dab into a store employee's stocking bin. Not only did the crash make a pretty loud racket, I made a pretty loud shriek, drawing the attention of everyone in a 15-ft radius (which was a lot). Great. That's just one example of how my brain is already starting to go, what with the disorder around here, minimal though it may be at this point.

So, i think what I'm learning is that my sanity hangs on by a pretty fine thread.

Everyone who knows me is wondering what the big revelation is.

In other news, Benjamin turned 8 months old yesterday! crazy how time flies. He still has not quite mastered crawling, but he can make it halfway across the living room before you know it, just scooting on his belly.

That about does it for today ... I'm tired. I've been reading lots of good books and cooking lots of good recipes, so hopefully I'll have the brain power to post some of those on here soon!

Happy Wednesday!
